Cervical cancer or cancer of the cervix is the most common cancer in a woman in subcontinents like India and second most common cancer in women worldwide after breast cancer.
Cervical cancer is a cancer caused by infection thus can be prevented. Cancer in cervix is not of a sudden origin but develops in a period of time from pre cancerous stage which is called cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), even there are three stages of CIN. Cervix is actually the lower part of uterus which connects uterus from vagina. During menstruation bleeding occurs due top shedding of endometrium which comes out from uterus through cervix to vagina and then expelled out.
Uterus is a flexible organ and can expand multiple times, thus during pregnancy when the baby is in uterus, cervix play a major role as it remains tightly closed to retain the baby inside the womb.
Cervix also secrete mucus which helps in motility of sperm inside and increases the chance of fertilization.
Cervix is prone to infection and inflammation and infection with certain Papilloma virus lead to cancer of the cervix. Mainly four serotypes The four serotypes of HPV (human papilloma virus) 6,11,16 and 18 are responsible for cancer cervix. Poor nutrition, poor hygiene is an aggravating factor for cancer cervix

We do agree that Cervical Cancer is one of the most complicated disease in women.
National Cancer Institute has given some suggestions to be more cautious.
1- Identification
2- Regular pelvic exams and Pap testing
3- Treatment of precancerous changes in the cervix may be
treated with cryosurgery, cauterization, or laser surgery.
4- Abnormal Bleeding must be taken seriously
