How to choose the best Fish Oils ? Don't trust the blogs
In this article, I will talk about my journey to find the best fish oils for my self and my family. I will share what I learned about choosing the right fish oils from the huge list of choices in the market.
When I decided to buy the fish oils for my self and my family, the first thing I did was to Google for best fish oils. I was expecting that someone who spend enough time to research on this would have compiled a good list of the best fish oils and published some blogs about it. In fact, I found several blogs that discuss the good quality fish oils. I did not want to trust on one blog, so I went on reading many of them in an attempt to short list the best of best.
After reading 10 or more sites, I came up with a short list of Fish Oils I would consider to buy. But to my surprise, many of these blogs were talking about a same set of fish oils and all of them were listing the same set of qualities in different words. Being an experienced web developer, it immediately raised the red flag in my mind.
I did some further analysis on the blogs that appear in top results in Google search results for best fish oils and related search queries. Yes, I was right ! These blogs were promotional blogs, most probably paid for by the fish oil companies. The blogs were written so carefully such that it is really hard for any one to identify that they are promotional blogs. They were all written such that it appears to be the opinion of individuals from different parts of the world. The blogs were well optimized such that even a smart search engine like Google would consider them as genuine blogs and will show such blogs in top of the search results.
I learned a lesson - do not trust the blogs in my efforts to identify the best fish oils for my family. Instead, I decided to do my own research to find what determines the quality of fish oils and how to choose the best fish oils.
